Am I good enough?

Am I good enough?

This is a question we ask ourselves about many things. Am I good enough for my parents? Am I good enough for someone to love me? Am I good enough for my children? And the list goes on, but the biggest of these questions that we sometimes grapple with is this, Am I good enough for God?
Let me answer that one for you, Nope, we’re not good enough, actually we aren’t even close.
The apostle Paul said it this way in his letter to the Romans,

“For everyone has sinned, we all fall short of His glorious standard” (Romans 3:23)

It’s a good thing that this isn’t the end of the story or we would all be in rough shape, here is the rest of the story:

22 We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are.
23 For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.24 Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. (Romans 3:22-24)

God loved us long before we were even born, this is why He sent Jesus to draw us close to Himself.
When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Saviour, He takes on Himself the penalty of our sin, and God welcomes us with open arms.
So no, you aren’t good enough, but Jesus is and that’s all that matters. Next time you feel inadequate, think of this, “My best day isn’t good enough, and my worst day isn’t bad enough, It’s Jesus that makes me right with God”.
